Editorial standards

People come to PhoneGuiding when something is not working and they need it fixed. That means every guide has to be accurate, easy to follow and honest about what will and will not help. These are the standards we hold ourselves to.

Research

Before we write a guide, we look at the questions people are actually asking, the official documentation from the device or app maker, and the advice already available online. We look for what is missing or out of date, and we make sure our guide fills those gaps.

Accuracy

• Steps describe what you will actually see on screen, with exact menu names.
• When a menu is different on Samsung, Google Pixel, Xiaomi or an older software version, the guide says so instead of assuming one layout.
• We do not invent statistics, test results or features.
• We link to official sources, such as Apple Support or Google Help, where they add useful detail.

Clear, plain writing

Guides open with a short, direct answer. The steps follow in order, one action at a time. We avoid jargon, and when a technical term is needed we explain it.

Keeping guides up to date

Phone makers move settings between updates. Each guide shows a “last updated” date, and that date only changes when the content itself changes. We review guides after major iOS and Android releases.

Corrections

If a reader reports an error, we check it and fix it as soon as it is confirmed. You can report a mistake on our contact page.

Safety

When a problem suggests hardware damage, such as a swollen battery, liquid damage or overheating, our guides tell you to stop troubleshooting and get the device checked by the manufacturer or an authorized repair center.

Independence

We are not affiliated with any device maker or app company, and no company pays us to recommend a fix. If we ever show ads or use affiliate links, they will be clearly disclosed and will never decide what we recommend.
