How to remove a repost on TikTok (one or many)

What a TikTok repost is

A repost shares someone else's video with your followers without making a copy. The video stays on the creator's account, and your name appears on it when it shows up in your friends' feeds, with a small label like "You reposted" or "[name] reposted". Reposts also collect in a Reposts tab on your profile, which is where most people go to undo them.

Find your Reposts tab

1. Open TikTok and tap Profile at the bottom right.
2. Look at the row of icons above your videos.
3. Tap the icon with two arrows in a loop. This is Reposts.

If you do not see it, you have no reposts yet, or your app is out of date. Update TikTok and check again. In some versions the tab shows a lock icon, which means only you can see it.

Remove a single repost step by step

1. Open the Reposts tab and tap the video.
2. Tap the Share arrow on the right side.
3. Tap Remove repost (it may show as a yellow button at the top of the share menu).
4. The video disappears from your Reposts tab right away.

You can also remove a repost from your For You feed. When you see a video you reposted, tap Share and the same Remove repost button appears.

Remove a repost by accident? Repost again

If you removed the wrong one, open the video again from the creator's profile, tap Share and tap Repost. It goes back to your tab, but your followers may see it in their feed again.

Why reposts happen by accident

The Repost button sits at the top of the share menu and is easy to hit when you only meant to copy a link or send a video to a friend. Double-tapping can also be confused with it on some screens. If you repost often by mistake, slow down when you open the share menu, or use Send to friends instead of the main Repost button.

Who can see your reposts

Your followers who follow you back (friends) may see reposts in their For You or Friends feeds. Your Reposts tab can be visible to everyone, to friends only or to nobody, depending on your settings and whether your account is private. To check, go to Profile › menu › Settings and privacy › Privacy and look for Reposts or Reposted videos. Menu labels change with updates, so search Settings for "repost" if you cannot find it.

Hide your Reposts tab without deleting reposts

If you want to keep your reposts but stop others browsing them, set the Reposts tab to Only me in Privacy settings where your version offers it. Making your whole account private also limits reposts to approved followers. This keeps your reposts as a private list you can rewatch later.

Bulk removal: what works and what does not

TikTok has no official way to remove every repost at once. Some browser scripts and extensions claim to do it on tiktok.com by clicking Remove repost for you. They can work, but they break often when TikTok updates, and some ask for more access than they need. Never type your TikTok password into a third-party website. If you try a script, use it only in your own logged in browser and review what it does. The slow way, one video at a time, is the only fully safe option.

Repost vs Share vs Stitch vs Duet

• Repost: shows the original video to your followers with your name on it.
• Share or Send: sends a link to someone or to another app. It does not appear on your profile.
• Stitch: makes a new video that starts with a clip from the original.
• Duet: puts your video side by side with the original.

Stitches and Duets are your own videos, so remove them like any other post: open the video, tap the three dots and choose Delete.

Repost button missing?

Some creators turn off sharing or reposting for their videos, and some videos, like those from private accounts, cannot be reposted. If the button is missing for every video, update TikTok. TikTok also tests features in some regions before others, so not every account sees the same buttons at the same time.

Clear other activity too

If you are cleaning up your profile, you can also review your liked videos and favorites. Liked videos can be made private in Privacy › Liked videos. To remove a like, open the video and tap the heart again. Your watch history is in Settings and privacy › Activity center › Watch history, where you can delete items.

Remove a repost on tiktok.com

You can also manage reposts on a computer. Go to tiktok.com, log in and open your profile. Click the Reposts tab, open a video and look for the Repost button below the video or in the share menu. When it shows that you reposted, click it again to remove the repost. The web layout changes more often than the app, so if you cannot find the option, use your phone.

Do reposts affect your account?

Reposts do not count as your own posts, so they do not change your video count or follower stats. They can shape what TikTok recommends to you, because reposting tells the app you liked that content. Removing reposts does not undo that right away, but over time your For You feed follows what you watch and like now. To reset recommendations faster, use Settings and privacy › Content preferences › Refresh your For You feed where available.

Remove a repost on Android vs iPhone

The steps are the same on both. The only difference is the look of the share menu, which slides up from the bottom on both systems but may arrange buttons differently. Look for the yellow Remove repost button or a two-arrows icon labeled Reposted.

If the button says Repost instead of Remove repost, that video is not in your reposts, so there is nothing to undo.

Quick recap

Open your profile, tap the Reposts tab, open a video, tap Share and choose Remove repost. Repeat for each one. Change who can see your Reposts tab in Privacy settings if you would rather hide them than remove them, and skip any tool that asks for your password. Nobody is notified either way, so you can tidy up your profile whenever you like.

Reposts you remove do not come back on their own, and the creator keeps every like and view your repost brought them, so removing one causes no harm to anyone.

Who sees your reposts?

Reposts can appear in your friends' For You feeds, and on your profile in a Reposts tab if that is turned on. Check your privacy settings in TikTok to control who sees them. Removing a repost removes it from those places, and the original creator is not notified.
