How to restore Android from a Google backup
Android only restores a Google backup during setup, so pick it before you finish the welcome screens.

Restore during setup

Turn on the phone and connect to Wi-Fi.

At Copy apps & data, tap Next, then Can’t use old device.

Sign in with the Google account you backed up.

Choose the latest backup and what to restore.

Tap Restore and finish setup.
What comes back separately
- Photos and videos: open Google Photos and sign in.
- WhatsApp: restore from Google Drive when you set up WhatsApp.
- App logins: most apps ask you to sign in again.

I already finished setup. Can I still restore?
Only by factory resetting and setting up again. Some data, like contacts and photos, syncs back just by signing in.
Why do I see no backup?
You may be signed in to a different Google account, or backup was off. Check one.google.com/storage for the backup list.
