iPhone battery draining fast? 10 fixes that make it last longer
Start by finding out what is using the battery. Settings shows you, app by app, and the fix is usually obvious once you know.

Find the app draining your battery.
Go to Settings › Battery and tap the chart to see usage by app. Apps with lots of Background Activity are the usual culprits.

Wait 48 hours after an update.
Heavy drain right after an iOS update is usually temporary.

Update your apps and iOS.
A buggy app version can keep the processor busy. Update everything.

Limit Background App Refresh.
Settings › General › Background App Refresh. Turn it off for apps that do not need fresh content.

Turn on Adaptive Power (iOS 26).
On iPhone 15 Pro and later, go to Settings › Battery › Power Mode and turn on Adaptive Power. It takes about a week to learn your habits.

Why does my battery drain faster after an iOS update?
After a major update, iOS re-indexes photos and files and updates apps in the background. Drain usually settles within 24 to 48 hours. Keep the iPhone charging on Wi-Fi overnight to help it finish.
Does closing apps save battery?
No. iOS pauses apps in the background on its own, and reopening a closed app uses more power than resuming it. Only close apps that are frozen.
