How to send a voice message on iPhone (and keep them)
Audio messages live in the plus menu in Messages. Record, listen back, then send.

Open the conversation in Messages.

Tap the plus button, then Audio.

Speak, then tap the red stop button.

Tap Play to check it, then the send arrow.

Open Settings › Apps › Messages.

Under Audio Messages, tap Expire.

Choose Never.

Why do my voice messages disappear?
Audio messages expire after 2 minutes by default. Go to Settings › Apps › Messages › Audio Messages › Expire and choose Never.
